WHO WE ARE

We are The University Georgia Chapter of Girls Who Code. We promote the involvement of girls in STEM, particularly in coding and computer science. We regularly volunteer with local schools to introduce girls to coding!

OUR MISSION

TO CLOSE THE GENDER GAP WITHIN TECHNOLOGY AND CHANGE THE IMAGE OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
In 1995, 37% of computer scientists were women. Today, it’s only 24%. The percent will continue to decline if we do nothing. We know that the biggest drop off of girls in computer science is between the ages of 13 and 17. The gender gap in technology is drastic. Through Girls Who Code, we work in several communities to make a difference in the growing gender gap. Through free computer science coding programs, the people in the organization are teaching girls how to code and increasing the number of girls who go into the field of technology in the future.
